How Train Trax came about
Adele Spence, Mary Whitehead and Simon Hill, NMIT students undertaking the Music Industry Business Advanced Diploma course, approached Hugo T Armstrong in February of 2004 with the idea of putting together a Blues Train compilation CD. They wanted to represent Australian blues and the atmosphere and experience of The Blues Train.
Adele, Mary and Simon worked closely with Hugo and the artists to compile a CD of quality crowd-pleasing and atmospheric tracks. Train Trax oversaw and organised the CD’s sponsorship, licensing agreements, mastering, artwork, budgets, royalties, distribution, marketing, promotion and the CD launch.
After a decade of showcasing Victoria’s best blues musicians, the music and the atmosphere of Victoria’s most unique blues venue was captured on CD, giving Blues Train punters the chance to take some of the Blues Train music home with them.
Now in 2007, continuing her work with The Blues Train CD and Train Trax, Mary Whitehead has developed the release of Volume 2 as a solo project. She continues to ensure all of our featured artists are paid their royalties. Mary worked on our second CD in her spare time; she now works in Sydney for a major record label.
