If you've experienced The Blues Train over the last two seasons, you may have noticed diesel engines pulling our service. It was therefore with much anticipation that we welcomed the historic steam locomotive T-Class 251 into service after 18 years.

One of 78 T-Class engines built between 1903 & 1917, the T-Class 251's long awaited return to service arrived after a full restoration.

Over the past 5 years the volunteers of the Bellarine Railway have completely restored goods locomotive ‘T 251’ back to full running order.

It has taken many long hours by the Bellarine Railway's dedicated team of volunteers to restore this beautiful example of steam locomotive history.

The 251 entered service Saturday 11th April 09 hauling The Blues Train after an 18-year hiatus.

For the full story and images on the T-Class 251 restoration project see the Bellarine Railway's restoration page and image gallery

With the T-Class 251 now hauling The Blues Train, what better excuse is there to ride the rails again!
