Food & Beverage Improvements

Thursday, October 27, 2011
We're continually improving the catering on The Blues Train to make your experience better...

Food and beverage is an important part of The Blues Train experience. Since our last update, catering and bar teams have been working hard to improve the quality of food, drinks and service.

CATERING

Bellarine CateringJust a few of the improvements made to catering are:

  1. Change of menu, with more of the foods our patrons have requested.
  2. A distinct daylight and non-daylight savings menu - more hot food in the colder months, salads in the warmer months.
  3. A larger variety of condiments
  4. Classy table cloths across all tables
  5. Lap tables for carriages that do not have tables
  6. Tables and seating on the platform for Carriage D patrons

THE T-BAR

T-Bar beerWe have listened to your feedback on the bar and have acted! The key points raised were:

Service - As many of you would know from experience, lining up at the bar can be a lengthy process. To speed things up we have further renovated our portable bar enabling patrons to make their choices before reaching the bar and allowing us to serve you in a much more timely fashion.

Price - We understand price is a big part of any night out. We have canvassed similar events and venues and are confident our beer, wine and spirit prices are on par with many like venues as they currently stand.

Range - We would love to stock a larger range of beverages, however as we are on a moving steam train, there are limitations on what we can offer. We do think we have a great list of wines (many local), good range of non-alcoholic drinks, beer and spirits. As always we do welcome feedback on this as we do often introduce a new drink or two each season.

It's with that in mind that we have recently added four new wines onto our list

Scotchman Hill's Swan Bay Brut Rose  - Fresh rich palate with red fruits, blueberries and bready flavours. The mid palate is generous with a creamy mouthfeel which makes way to a dry acid finish.

The Drysdale Reserve Pinot Noir has a beautiful balance of fine tannins and fresh acidity which complement the concentrated fruit flavours. Well-structured with a long and flavoursome finish this wine has a complex nose displaying cherry and plum characters.

The Henry Frost Cabernet Merlot from the Clare Valley replaces the Cape Le Grand Cabernet Merlot previously stocked.

The Blues Train Premium Red -

The Blues Train special vintage, handpicked by Hugo for discerning Blues Train patrons. Ask at the bar for this month's variety.
