Meet Train Trax CD Project Manager Mary Whitehead

Wednesday, February 29, 2012
Ahead of the release of Train Trax Volume 3, we meet Mary Whitehead - the person behind the Train Trax CD project...

Mary WhiteheadMary Whitehead has been involved in The Blues Train 'Train Trax' CD project since its inception in 2004.

At that time Mary was studying Music Business at the North Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT). Along with two other students, Mary approached Hugo T Armstrong to create a compilation album with The Blues Train for their final assessment. It was then that our first release ‘Train Trax Volume 1’ was born.

Whilst creating the album the students gained skills in project management and experience in music licensing, royalty accounting, event planning and more.

Following her time at NMIT, Mary went on to undertake a degree in Music Industry (Business) at RMIT. Upon completion of this Mary landed a role working in royalties and licensing with Warner Music in Sydney. In her spare time during 2007, Mary worked on our second release ‘Train Trax Volume 2’.

Volume 1 & 2 were both launched to a packed house at The Rainbow Hotel, Fitzroy, and featured the amazing Jimi Hocking, Mia Dyson, Ash Grunwald, Chris Wilson, C.W Stoneking, Dallas Frasca and many more of our favourites!

Mary later left our shores to work in London with Universal Music Publishing UK where she specialised in licensing music to games.

Now back in Melbourne and a brand-new mum, we’re glad to have Mary home and working on our latest edition 'Train Trax Volume 3'.

“It’s an absolute pleasure working with the Blues Train and its artists. The CD’s have always provided the perfect souvenir for punters to remember their night on the train, whilst showcasing the amazing acts who’ve rocked its carriages”, says Mary. “It’s great to be involved once again and the new compilation is sounding fantastic”.

Train Trax Volume 3, is slated for release in early April, and features 19 acts who have performed on The Blues Train over the past 18 years. Featuring a smorgasboard of local talent along with the three international acts we have hosted  (Charlie Parr, Hamilton Loomis and Matt Andersen), we are very proud of how this disc is shaping up
