Next appearances on The Blues Train:

The Anthea Jewels Blues Band perform home grown original and traditional blues with soaring vocals for soul-stirring renditions of the Delta and blues music styles from New Orleans, Mississippi and Chicago. Smooth guitar licks, a rock steady rhythm section, with vocals inspired by blues queens Aretha Franklyn, Tina Turner, Etta James, Janis Joplin, contribute to the band’s Australian boogie style, inspired by the 60s and 70s Australian blues band era, giving the band consistency to carve their niche on Melbourne’s music scene.

Originals are co-written by Anthea Jewels and bass player Bill Ruffle during their years travelling to New Orleans and throughout Louisiana. Anthea ‘Jewels’ and Bill Ruffle are award-winning singer/songwriters holding finalist positions and best performance nominations.
For their BluesTrain debut The Anthea Jewels Blues Band are in their four piece incarnation with vocalist Anthea Jewels (Pearl: the Janis Joplin show, Jewels of RocknSoul, Anthea’s Rubies), guitarist Dan Miller (Johnny Krowfoot), bassplayer/singer Bill Ruffle (Don Frankenstein, Johnny Krowfoot), drummer Rob George (MotherGong). They perform throughout Melbourne, nationally, and with international appeal. Their debut Blues CD is due for release late 2019.
