Dan Dinnen & Shorty sees one of the Australian Blues Scene’s most dynamic performing artists team up with one its most exciting and original drummer/percussionists. The result is a bluesy gumbo of rootsy goodness. A little bit delta swamp, a little bit hill country, and a lot its own unique flavor.
Dan Dinnen is a blues singer/songwriter, harmonica player and guitar finger-picker who delivers a swag of original tunes that run the gamut from smoking ballads to juke-joint boogies and grooves. He’s an energetic performer who combines originality with an old-time blues feel and style.
“Dan Dinnen is one of the most authentic blues voices on the scene, but with an individual sound.” – Helen Jennings, PBSfm.
Dan was the 2016 MBAS Blues Performer Of The Year (Solo/Duo Category), 2017 MBAS Artist Of The Year, a Semi-Finalist in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, and a Chain Award recipient (Group Of The Year 2016) for his work as lead vocalist and harp player with Greg Dodd & The Hoodoo Men.
Drummer/percussionist Anthony “Shorty” Shortte is best known for his work with ARIA award winning blues act Collard Greens and Gravy. Shorty’s unique approach to the drum-kit helped to create a rolling, rollicking, juke-joint sound that captivated audiences at gigs and festivals around the country for 20 years.
Dan and Shorty have a ball weaving rhythms around each-other’s playing, delivering blues and roots that simply grooves!
