The Justin Yap Band plays a potent blend of Deep Blues, Sanctified Soul, and Down-Home Funk. Led by guitarist Justin Yap, the band delivers electrifying and dynamic performances, bringing out their chemistry and energy in full force at every show. Their first album ‘Long Way From Home’ debuted at No. 3 on the Australian Blues Charts and remained in the top 20 for four months.
Justin’s playing has developed a virtuosic yet vocal character, and has grown up playing blues and funk with groups in Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne. Paired with the raw and sultry vocals of Nardia Brancatisano; along with young virtuoso Ollie Rolfe on Keys, Hammond & trumpet, and the combined talents of newest member Ben Wicks on bass and Jim Moody on drums, the Justin Yap Band has a tight and exciting sound not to be missed.
Over the last 2 years the band has been gigging hard in and around Victoria, with highlights including the Wangaratta Jazz and Blues Festival, Echuca Winter Blues Festival, Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival, and Wagga Wagga Jazz and Blues Festival. The JYB have begun work on a second album of all originals to be released in early 2016 and continue to push themselves musically and keep the groove.
